If You Can Recall When...

Hello. Remember that I mentioned earlier that Europe is the continent that indulge the flavours of history? Well it's true. That chain of events which occurred had massively affected the world that it's still felt. Plato, Julius Caesar, Constantine with his Constantinople, Napoleonic War, Agricultural Revolution, Industrial Revolution, French Revolution, WWII, and recently, European Union. We have seen the rise, the fall and the rerise (is that a valid word) of that relatively small continent. Someone had asked me, what about our own country? Ah yes, our country's history which dated back to the coming of Parameswara from Palembang. 1400 was it? I think so.

Yes, we had our history. A history of being conquered! 400 years of colonialism. First by the Portuguese, then the Dutch, next the Brits, and the Japs, and at last to the Brits again. And some would say that we got our independence the chicken-out way. Hah, that's where they're wrong. Why so? Because looking at WWII, Europe ended in ruins. By examining the 2003 Iraq War, nothing was actually liberated. By remembering Israel's attacks on Gaza last December, we would see that it does not only tore the buildings of Palestine, but the soul of the Israeli soldiers too.

What I'm saying is, war just brings the human race disaster. Nothing is actually achieved by having one. The lost of one life will never cover the reclamation of a land, or a nation. What our leaders did back at the 1950s are to me the best way to gain independence. Through the signing of treaty, the peaceful way. No blood was shed. That's how we should do it. However, I do disagree on the act of demonstrating and all. It gives bad influence to people nowadays who resorts to street demonstration to, well, demonstrate their emotions, their thoughts. I don't agree on that. It's just stupid. I'm sorry.

So, whatever your nationality is, value it. No war is worth anything. War should never be printed in any dictionary at all. It's a mistake that someone had started. Why follow a hatred tradition?
